Co-Director, Jade Morgan is a proud Aboriginal woman from the Eora Nation. She has a Bachelor of Social Work and over 20 years’ experience as a practitioner across the fields of Housing NSW, Intensive Family Based Services, child protection, out of home care, Family Law, adoptions, and workplace investigations. Jade has worked in roles specifically supporting Aboriginal families and in generalist positions working with a range of families from different cultures. Jade has worked in both caseworker and management roles. Jade has provided cultural consultation for Aboriginal children and families for various agencies.
Jade is an approved Independent Assessor for Department of Communities and Justice and an approved Registered Adoptions Counsellor. She is has completed numerous adoption assessments and court reports; and other OOHC assessments. Jade is trained in delivering Family Group Conferencing. She has provided expert evidence in the Children’s Court, the District Court and the Family Law Courts of Australia. Jade has presented at various conferences regarding permanency outcomes for children.
Jade has been managing the Assessments team at Kim Nixon Consulting since 2016, which involves the allocation of and tracking of matters; supporting our staff to undertake quality assessments, including consultation on matters as required and review of each assessment completed, to ensure quality assurance. Jade has worked closely with many different agencies to support them to achieve permanency and positive outcomes for children and families.
Jade supported the recent endeavours by DCJ to increase the number of approved Aboriginal Independent Assessors, able to support Aboriginal families with the assessment process. More information and a video Jade participated in can be found here.
Jade is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Co-Director, Kim Nixon, holds a Bachelor of Social Work (1st Class Honours) from Charles Sturt University. She has almost forty years’ experience as a practitioner across the fields of sexual assault, child protection, out of home care, early intervention and workplace investigations, including almost thirty five years in management. Kim has worked with metro, rural and remote communities and her roles have extended from caseworker through to Director at Department of Communities and Justice.
Kim has designed, delivered, implemented and evaluated many major projects including the Adoption Taskforce, Department of Communities and Justice, which achieved over 230 out of home care adoptions in NSW and Justice and a Guardianship Project for Western Sydney DCJ. She has taught in the areas of child protection, interpersonal violence and family work at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Kim has also completed research in the areas of child protection, child sexual assault, adult survivors of sexual assault, family support programs, ethics in research involving children, and complex case reviews. Kim has presented at a number of major conferences. She has considerable experience in the design and delivery of training to the Human Service Sector.
Kim is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
