Carer Reviews

Kim Nixon Consulting completes three types of Carer Reviews, including:

Standard Carer Reviews

Standard annual carer reviews include the assessor interviewing subject children, the carer/s and household members, reading the required information documented on the referral form, and completing the Carer Review template, photos of the carers home, home inspection form, and providing a copy of the assessor’s resume.

For standard five year reviews additional information is required including updated National Criminal Record Checks, and Health Checks.

Our goal is to complete Annual and Five Year carer reviews within 6 weeks of these being allocated to one of our assessors.

Complex Carer Reviews

Complex Carer Reviews are often requested when there are concerns about the about the high needs of the children in the placement, that may require the provision of additional supports; or any concerns about the quality of care being provided to the children young people. For complex carer reviews additional information is required to that stated above, including documents that detail the identified concerns for the placement. At times a full review of the child and/or carers file may be required.

KNC specialises in Complex carer reviews, particularly where concerns have been raised about the the level of support being provided to the family; the quality of care;; or any areas of special needs. These reviews provide concrete and specific information about how to best support the child, their carer/s and birth family, including recommendations for specific services and contact details. These reviews must be able to stand up to scrutiny in NCAT should a decision be made to de-authorise carer/s. If there is a lengthy or complex care history requiring reading of additional file material, then a longer time period may be negotiated.
